Sunglint on the Alabama Stream

.Within this June 26, 2023, picture taken from the International Spaceport station, sunshine shines off the hassle-free waters of the Alabama Waterway in a sensation known as sunglint. When photographing Earth, astronauts usually capitalize on sunglint's propensity to increase the contrast in between water surfaces and also regarding land areas. In the 1960s, the Alabama Waterway was hindered, making Dannelly Tank (the big shining region at center left). Development of the dam also brought up water table upriver. This caused flooding at a number of aspects along the river. These flooded zones are actually regular of flood plains-- the low, level regions instantly next to bigger rivers. Within this picture, flooded zones look like rough, bright designs stretching far from the waterway, like at Gee's Bend (center bottom).Text Credit Report: Justin Wilkinson.Graphic Credit Score: NASA/Woody Hoburg.
